1.
At night, the stars put on a show for free... and you can come and share it all with me
2.
Are you ready, boots?... START WALKIN" !
3.
And I need you more than want you... And I want you for all time.
4.
Then from the Sky comes the Lord and the Lightning!... There'll be trains of Blossoms, Music trains of Trust, trains of Golden Dust, Come along and surrey on sweet Trains of Thought.... Surrey on down.
5.
Oh No... it's not hard for you to understand. True Love can be such a Sweet Harmony, if you do the best that you can.
6.
Why don't you be a man about it, and set me free? You don't care a thing about me, you're just usin' me! Get out, get out, get out of my life , and let me sleep at night! 'Cause you don't really love me... you just keep me hangin' on.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine, And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come thru the music, would you hold it near as it were your own? Reach out your hand... If your cup be empty, If your cup is full, may it be again. Let it be known: There is a fountain that was not made by the hands of men. Ripple in still water... Ripple in still water... Ripple in still water…When there is no pebble tossed, Nor wind to blow.
8.
Ain't no time to hate... barely time to wait. I got me a violin, and I beg you call the tune! And today's tune is: Chinquapin Hunting.
9.
Like a worm on a hook, like a monk bent over his book, t'was the shape of our love twisting me. And if I've been untrue... It's just that I thought a lover had to be some kind of liar too.

about

Legendary fiddler Darol Anger, Singer-Songwriter Emy Phelps and a crew of brilliant young Uber-pickers have re-imagined some of the greatest songs of the Sixties, they way we (the Acoustic String Community) would do them, and it came out great.
We're calling it Music Of Our People, because this is where our whole musico-cultural movement started!

Anger and Phelps re-created these songs in the New Acoustic style that Darol helped create, now a major part of what people call Americana music. Produced by Anger, the core of Music of Our People’s sound is Emy’s incredibly versatile voice, Darol’s unmistakable violin sound, and their tough, grooving guitar & octave mandolin weave that sets up a vast array of radically musical rearrangements using the sounds of Baritone Violin, Banjos, trumpet, pedal steel, tablas, Foot percussion, accordions, Fuzz-Tenor Octave Ukelele, Paper Percussion and Electric Screwdriver.

The other musicians on Music of Our People are members of the tight community of brilliant acoustic musicians that grew up influenced by Darol’s original groups such as the David Grisman Quintet and Turtle Island. Most of these young artists were not even alive when the songs on Music of Our People were written. They join an earlier generation of seasoned artists whose music has continued to deepen.

The players include bassist Bridget Kearney (Lake Street Dive, Joy Kills Sorrow), Tony Trischka (Banjo innovator), bassist Ethan Jodziewicz (Sierra Hull, Milk Carton Kids), Nic Gareiss (foot percussionist and tap artist extraordinaire), Maeve Gilchrist (the world’s leading Celtic Harp virtuoso), Banjoist Greg Liszt (Bruce Springsteen, Crooked Still), and other soon-to-be-famous virtuosos. Recorded and mixed in Anger’s legendary home studio, the album was mastered by Dave Sinko, the engineer behind many of the greatest acoustic string artists such as Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, Goat Rodeo, the Punch Brothers, Goat Rodeo, and decades of Nashville country hits.
